Am I learning English in Dallas?

I'll try in English this time, as I'm going to talk about itself, English.

First of all, my first impression was that I wouldn't be able to improve my English here in Dallas.
My school is located within a Hispanic neighborhood, serving a 95% Hispanic population...

Most of the service workforce have Hispanic roots too, and when they realize that you can speak Spanish, they automatically switch to Spanish, what gets on my nerves!!

But, everything depends on the way you face it.

I'll tell you what I'm doing:

If you like sports, any sport, try to find a team or league to play in. There you'll have to use English to communicate since there are people form all over the world here in Dallas
A useful website is meetup.com where you can attend meetings for numerous types of activities: sports, music, motor lovers, and so on..

Try to use your English as much as you can .. in situations such as Getting a car insurance, booking a hotel room, whatever. It will help you out. At first you may feel kind of lost, but, with patience and practice, you will see the difference.
